Herring, of Millport, AL (formerly of Homewood), born
February 4, 1936, passed away September 28, 2008. He was a
member of Christian Chapel Church of Christ in Lamar County.
He retired from Wittichen Supply Company after 42 years, and
was a distinguished member of the Refrigeration Service
Engineers Society (RSES), and a well-respected pioneer of
the HVAC Industry. He was preceded in death by his parents
Joseph and Inez Herring; brothers, Jerome, Jarvis, Lorraine,
Gerald, Donald; and sister Ora Lee Murphree.
Survivors include his loving wife of 52 years, Peggy
Stripling Herring; sons Charles (Donna) of Hoover, AL and
Mark (Rebecca) of Alabaster, AL; and grandchildren; Jacob,
Rusty, Amanda, Emily, and Austin, and a host of nieces and
nephews. He loved the Lord, the Church, his family, the
company he worked for, and Auburn football. He was fun
loving, and enjoyed a good laugh, and acappella gospel
singing. He was a friend to all, and will be greatly missed
by all who knew him.
Visitation will be Tuesday, September 30, from 6:00 – 9:00
at The Palisades Church of Christ – 625 Palisades Boulevard
– Homewood, AL, and from 10:00 – 11:00 a.m. Wednesday.
Chapel services will be Wednesday, October 1, at 11:00 a.m.
at the Church building, with Brother Ray Brunner
officiating. Burial will follow at Elmwood Cemetery. |
