For decades, Senator H.C. Peter Schaufler directed the fate of BITZER as its owner and CEO. With his diligence, entrepreneurial courage as well as his international orientation, he characterized his own era, developing the company from a medium-sized enterprise to the world’s largest manufacturer of refrigeration compressors.

Senator H.C. Peter Schaufler, CEO of BITZER, established THE SCHAUFLER FOUNDATION in 2005, which will continue his life’s work – uniting entrepreneurship, vocational training and university teaching with research, science and art. In terms of science and research, the support focuses on refrigeration and air conditioning technology with the aim of protecting the environment sustainably. Art and culture, primarily from the 20th and 21st centuries are promoted by a public museum: The SCHAUWERK Sindelfingen.

In 2016, BITZER opened its international training center at the Rottenburg-Ergenzingen site in Germany: the SCHAUFLER Academy, named in honor of Senator H.C. Peter Schaufler, who owned the company for many years. It enables application-oriented training courses under realistic system conditions and, with its wide-ranging program of seminars, makes an important contribution to the training of specialists in the refrigeration and air-conditioning sectors.
